At this stage, you can also discuss financing options with one of our customer service representatives or use our online financing application. We want to see your building vision become a reality. That’s why we’re here to help you every step of the way. And that includes connecting you with a trusted lender to secure financing for your project.

  1. Site Selection, Zoning, and Permits

Once you have an idea of what steel buildings can do for you or your business, be sure to have an appropriate site picked out for your building’s placement. Check with local officials to make sure that your proposed site is zoned for this type of construction. Be sure to obtain any permits you might need before you proceed with any further design or construction work, including clearing land or pouring a foundation. Different regions have their own regulations which can vary depending on climate, potential seismic activity, and other factors.

  1. Design Plans

Once you have your site picked out and your permits pulled, the real design work can begin! Our engineers will design your building according to your specifications—or perfect the plans you made yourself on our site. They do this with the mission of making sure that you will get the most out of your building based on your intended purpose for it. In addition, our designers also want to ensure that your building will conform to the regulations laid out in your local codes and be the best type of structure for your climate and location.

  1. Engineering

After your plans are completed and approved, we can move on to the actual fabrication of your building’s parts. We do this in our facility, following your structure’s plans to the letter. Our precision engineering and strict quality control measures ensure that you will get the exact set of components you will need to erect your building at your work site.

  1. Foundation

While our engineers are fabricating your steel frames and panels, you can begin the work of pouring your foundation. Depending on the size of the foundation that you need and your level of experience, you may want to hire a contractor to do this for you to ensure that your slab is flat and that your building’s anchor bolts are properly placed. In addition, if need be, you can consult experts to make sure that the ground is fully level, examine the quality of the soil that will be your base, and determine whether your site will have adequate drainage. At this point, you should also figure out if you will run plumbing to your building. If so, you will want to lay the water and sewer pipes before the foundation is poured.

  1. Delivery

Next comes the delivery of your building kit. Matador will send all the components that comprise your steel building out to your erection site.

  1. Erection

Now it’s time for the actual construction of your steel building! If this is a small building for personal use, you may be able to assemble it yourself or do it with the help of a few friends. For many customers, this is part of the joy of purchasing a steel building kit in the first place. If, on the other hand, your structure is a large building for industrial or commercial use, you will probably want to hire a contractor to do the construction for you. The construction crew will first erect the framework, followed by the wall panels and the roof panels.

  1. Accessories

Next come the final steps, which bring with them yet another chance for you to customize your steel building. Construction wraps up with the addition of accessories such as trim, vents, gutters and downspouts, and skylights.

  1. Reap the Benefits

Congratulations! Now it’s your time to start enjoying your new building. You made a wise choice with steel. Not only do you have a structure specially-designed to meet your needs—you also have a building that will stand, with very little maintenance, for decades to come!
